This cover series was created for Alterra Project, a UK-based psychedelic downtempo trio with a richly textured and experimental sound. Each EP in the collection expresses a different emotional and conceptual narrative, with the artwork serving as a visual extension of the music’s atmosphere. From glitch-inspired aesthetics to surreal, cinematic environments, the designs explore transformation, space, and states of consciousness. The series translates sonic experience into layered visual storytelling through bold composition, digital manipulation, and immersive detail.
EXODUS
The cover for Exodus was designed to visualise a journey between dimensions — a symbolic passage from the inner world to the outer unknown. The glowing portal represents emergence, clarity, and transcendence, while the dark corridor evokes mystery and depth.
This visual contrast mirrors the EP’s layered production: hypnotic rhythms grounded in earthy tones, leading into expansive, celestial textures. The final design evolved through extensive digital transformation and compositing, creating a cinematic and atmospheric feel that aligns with Alterra Project’s storytelling sound.
This piece plays with symbolism and spatial tension — the light source suggests hope or revelation, while the composition invites the viewer to step into the unknown. It’s designed to feel both intimate and vast, echoing the duality within the music itself.
HOLOMORPHIC
The visual direction for Holomorphic was driven by themes of perception, evolution, and digital dissonance. The artwork explores the fusion of organic and synthetic, using glitch-inspired layering and mirrored symmetry to reflect the fluid yet fractured nature of identity and consciousness.
Designed to pair with the EP’s experimental downtempo energy, the cover creates a hypnotic focal point—inviting the viewer into a fragmented, shifting world. The balance of distortion and structure mirrors the sonic textures of the tracklist: rhythmic yet disorienting, melodic yet unpredictable.
Every element was placed to feel simultaneously intentional and chaotic. Echoes of circuitry, fluid motion, and abstract geometry create a sense of digital spirituality—offering a visual translation of the EP’s cerebral soundscape.
